A Study on the Teacher-Student Relationship in Schools of Nursing

Abstract

|
It is the purpose of this study to identify the nature of teacher-student relationship in schools of nursing and the factors which is most and least heavily weighted with the ideal teacher-student relationship.
The total number of subjects studied were 736 students and 55 teachers from 7 professional schools of nursing and 2 departments of nursing, college of medicine in Kyungpook and Kyungnam province.
The translated Scale of Tyler¢¥s Ideal Teacher-Student Relationship and a¢¥ questionnaire based on the sociometry of the J. L. Moreno were applied to the all of the subjects.
The results of this study were as follows:
1) Overall nature of the teacher-student relationship did not show an ideal relationship.
2) The response of the ideal teacher-student relationship was higher in teachers than students.
3) The response of the ideal teacher-student relationship was higher in the students at department of nursing, school of medicine than professional school of nursing.
4) The class which showed the least ideal teacher-student relationship was sophomore at professional school of nursing and junior at department of nursing, college medicine.
5) The most ideal teacher-student relationship was heavily weighted with positive communication statements and the least was weighted with negative status statements.
